The discussion is never-ending. Supporters argue and will never agree. What is the best football team in our country? What is the best football team in the world? And what does it mean to be the best team? There are a lot of rankings and statistics for football teams, but we never found a thrustworthy ranking that takes all factors into consideration. That is why we got the idea to make our own ranking, carefully selecting the parameters that our ranking consists of. There is a risk that rankings gets subjective. To make our ranking as objective as possible, we select parameters that is not based on opinion, but rather absolute factors.
… Recent Success
The highest weighted parameter, because statistics should be fresh. Mainly we look at performance the past five years, and making an average of league performance, domestic cup performance and continental cup performance. To make our ranking perform the best, the league performance and continental cup performance is weighted the highest.
… Historic Achievements
An important parameter in our ranking. Even though statistics should be fresh, it is necessary to take historic achievements into consideration when ranking the best, biggest and most successfull teams. League titles, cup titles, continental titles and performance since the founding date needs to be thought of.
… Overall Size
The size matters. It is not the most important parameter in our ranking, but the size is a factor when ranking football teams. How big is the fanbase? How does the team rank in market value and financial muscles?
A combination of all these factors makes our ranking to determine; what is the best, biggest and most successfull football team?
We make a separate ranking for each country, and all scores are relative to how other teams in this country perform. The rankings from one country can not be directly compared to rankings in another country. We make some special rankings, where we rank teams across multiple countries.
To be part of this ranking, the team have to be located in one of the two top divisions in said country. The ranking is updated after every season, where teams relegated from the second tier will be replaced with teams playing in this tier the next season.
