And what does it mean to be the best team? It is always good to have statistics to back your claim. There are a lot of rankings and statistics for football teams, but we never found a trustworthy ranking that considers all factors. That is why we got the idea to make our ranking, carefully selecting the parameters that our ranking consists of. There is a risk that rankings get subjective. To make our ranking as objective and fair as possible, we select parameters that are not based on opinion, but rather absolute factors.
… Recent Success
The highest weighted parameter, because statistics should be fresh. Mainly we look at performance over the past five years and make an average of league performance, domestic cup performance, and continental cup performance. To make our ranking perform the best, the league performance and continental cup performance is weighted the highest.
… Historic Achievements
An important parameter in our ranking. Even though statistics should be fresh, it is necessary to consider historic achievements when ranking the best, biggest, and most successful teams. League titles, cup titles, continental titles, and performances since the founding date need to be thought of.
… Overall Size
The size matters. It is not the most important parameter in our ranking, but the size is a factor when ranking football teams. How big is the fanbase? How does the team rank in market value and financial muscles?
A combination of all these factors makes our ranking determine; what is the best, biggest, and most successful football team.
We make a separate ranking for each country, and all scores are relative to how other teams in this country perform. The rankings from one country can not be directly compared to rankings in another country. We make some special rankings, where we rank teams across multiple countries.
To be part of this ranking, the team has to be located in one of the two top divisions in said country. The ranking is updated after every season, where teams relegated from the second tier will be replaced with teams playing in this tier the next season.
